There is a system of four ‘houses’ Cook, Drake, Raleigh and Shackleton and along with this a vertical tutoring system has been introduced. This means that in each tutor group you will find a mixture of pupils across different year groups. Previously we had houses called Itchen, Test and Hamble after the three local rivers.
The Houses
The house system promotes a sense of belonging and healthy competition within the school and this is clear on Creativity Days , House Challenge Days and Sports Days where the ‘houses’ work to gain the most points over a variety of different challenges. On such days, pupils are normally invited to wear non-uniform, wear house colours or dress up to support the ‘theme’ of the day.
